MIR523 is a microRNA gene that is part of the C19MC cluster on chromosome 19, which has implications in stem cell biology and tumorigenesis [PMC8508841]. In breast invasive carcinoma, the expression of MIR523 was not significantly different between carcinoma-associated anemia (CAA) and the control group with a variable threshold (P = .0718), but showed significance with a fixed threshold of 0.03 (P = .0443) [PMC7157974]. Additionally, MIR523 expression was nearly significant in another comparison within the same study (P = .0549) [PMC7157974]. MIR523 expression was also analyzed in an integrated dataset using the TCGA miRNA-seq dataset of liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC) matched with the HCC-iCluster RNA-seq dataset [PMC7378193]. The statement regarding the prediction of targets for MIR523 and the relation to wheat EST sequences in databases is not supported by the provided reference [PMC2394755] and has been omitted from this summary.
