Profiling of miRNAs expression in the common carp indicate that miR-1, miR-133a-3p, and miR-206 are specifically expressed in the muscle-rich tissues and organs (skeletal muscle, heart, gut) in the common carps, and that their expression increases with the progress of common carp muscle development, ultimately reaching their highest levels in the skeletal tissues of mature carp.
