We defined target genes using miRTarBase [20] and, by restricting to only high confidence target genes, identified 84 genes (77 target genes for miR-29b-3p and 7 for miR-520c-3p, no target gene was reported for miR-1183). [score:9]

Additionally, another positive differentially expressed miRNA at the GP-early OP transition, miR-1183, generated a high prediction score to an important enhancer of astrocyte differentiation, Eif2b5. [score:3]
MiR-1183 was also found to contain a stringent conserved binding site to the mRNA 3′ UTR of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2B, subunit 5 epsilon (Eif2b5), which has been shown to facilitate astrocyte differentiation [37]. [score:2]
