In our analysis, only four passenger strand sequences of the conserved miR393, miR1507, miR2118 and miR7696 families were found in higher counts than their corresponding guide miRNAs (ptc-miR393a-3p, 204DVAAXX:1:47:672:376, 204DVAAXX:1:4:984:557 and mtr-miR7696b-3p, respectively; highlighted in pink in Additional file 2).
